Your ship has been disabled by an ion storm, the main computer is down, and now you must manually activate the Command File which will restart the engines. The good news is you have it narrowed down to one of three files. The bad news is that the other two will detonate your warp core! On top of that, your chief engineer, delirious with radiation sickness, has re-labeled the files... File 1.) This file will Restart File 2.) File 1 will Detonate the core File 3.) This file will Detonate the core
As you ponder your choices, your CMO reports that the chief engineer recovered consciousness just long enough to say that only ONE of the three labels is correct, the other two are false. Quick, which one do you activate, and why?

File 3, obviously.
1 and 2 contradict themselves, so one of them must be the one labelled correctly. Therefore the label on file 3 is false. If it says it will detonate the core, it must actually be the Restart file.

Correct! Do you realize how long this topic has been here, and no one even took a guess?

Apparently about a year and a half. I have an idea for another puzzle we can try, but I'll start a separate topic for it. In the meantime, how about a trivia question?
Which is the densest planet in the solar system?

Densest? That rules out the gas giants. Is it Mercury?

Good guess, but no. Is anyone else going to guess, or do I give the answer now?

If nobody guesses in the next year and a half...
