House wasn't too bad, but just like most TV shows, it just got weird so I quit watching. Even Fringe got too weird for me. . . seems like most TV shows, by a certain season, find it necessary to take a full 180 onto a dirt back road that drops you into some random version of the X-Files & things just get weird . . .
Anyways. . . I think I'll still check out 'Elementary' and see if its not too strange. . . as far as Sherlock Holmes goes, I really like the BBC version - it's a great TV show & seems a bit more realistic & updated ^_^

Here's the strange thing... in the time I watched it nobody commented on the fact that this man was a consulting detective who happened to be named "Sherlock Holmes", so evidently it takes place in some kind of alternate universe where the Conan Doyle stories were never written or something. There are a few weak parallels... he used to consult with Scotland Yard, he's an addict, he's lazy about tidying up his rooms... Basically think of it as just a detective show about a slightly dysfunction detective who happens to be called Sherlock Holmes and it might work.

Of course, because its fiction. It's based on the idea of what if Sherlock Holmes "lived" in modern times. I likes Holmes with a cell phone. ^_^. Moriarty is still Holmes's nemesis, and although the games are a bit more modern in the applications, the basis of lateral thinking is still consistent.

That's easily answered. Most of what Holmes did in the stories was just ordinary forensics. True, he also said that imagination was the essential thing that Gregson and the other detectives lacked, but even so by the end of the series, Scotland Yard was doing fine without him, which is why he retired! So Sherlock Holmes in modern times would be redundant.

Yea, but if you've ever worked in law enforcement, there are just far too few resources for far too many cases. Having a fresh set of eyes, an agile mind & an extra set of hands can really make a huge difference. ^_^
