Description: The year is 1810. In the recently unified United Kingdom of Great Britain and Ireland, King George III is losing his grip on his throne and, reputedly, his sanity. In Europe Napoleon wages war with Austria with his intentions drifting eastwards. Within living memory the United States of America won its independence and is now presided over by founding father James Madison.
All this pales in to insignificance besides the war being waged right now hidden from the world you think you know. Across the globe magi, warlocks, witches, mystics of all varieties and races both familiar and less so are embroiled in a conflict that will decide the course of history.
The forces of Eden, to whom power is everything, and Veritas, whose motivations are less clear, vie for control over the mystics and governments of the world. They secure artefacts, key buildings and allies for their own purposes and both are weaving their tendrils in to the neutral parties who remain.
Those neutral parties rally around the sanctuary system, a network of safe havens and private communities dedicated to the protection of all mystics. Aldlake Haven, the grandest and oldest of the remaining sanctuaries, was almost destroyed by Eden’s footsoldiers. Now the residents of Aldlake must rebuild, expand and make a choice: do they accept Eden’s offer and embrace power, join the new world, or do they embrace Veritas and accept the price of order?
