I see what you mean. As art, it works in a way.

We haven't heard much about trance channeling since the nineties. Do you think it was just a fad?

It seems that way, doesn't it? It may be that as more and more science fiction appeared on television, people began to see it for what it was. We can only hope the same thing will happen with "ghost hunting"1

I didn't mean that to put down the idea of ghosts in general, but rather those tv shows where amateur plumbers delude themselves into thinking they're "scientific investigators" and find ghosts every week! I can do without that kind of thing.

I liked them initially, but they have 'sold out' when they had the Real Housewives of Atlanta as guest investigators.

I haven't watched it for a long time, but I have noticed advertisement for epis that have celebrities. I like that; it reminds people that this is entertainment and not a real scientific investigation.

heres another weird one... neurocritic.blogspot.com/2010/06/unique-case-of-50-first-dates-amnesia.htmlTo summarize, there is no such thing as overnight amnesia -- that is going to sleep at night and losing all memory of what happened during the day. But this is a case of woman who saw the movie "50 First Dates", and thought it was possible, so she began exhibiting the symptoms of overnight amnesia. Whether the woman is deliberately faking or not, nobody can say for sure.

So life imitates art, eh? There seems to be no limit to the strange things that go on inside our heads. But isn't there really such a thing as short term amnesia? I remember a movie called "Memento" about a man who had to keep writing notes to himself because his short term memory just wouldn't work.

Oh yes, I've seen "Memento" too! That was based on a real cognitive disorder, loss of short term memory. This other case isn't. There is no known way a person can store up normal memories all day long and then suddenly have them erased when she goes to sleep.

A friend of mine just passed this on. They claim that there are invisible creatures called djinns trying to move into our dimension, and this is the explanation for a lot of "ghost" sightings... djinnuniverse.com
